2013 SPRING MUSICAL SELECTION

For those who are familiar with our school's drama program, we hope you will be pleasantly surprised with a change in scheduling.  For the last 10 years we have held our Spring musical in May.  This year, in an effort to make the life of the student body and their families easier, we have moved our Spring musical to March 7 and 8.  The program will still follow the basic layout we always have, just earlier in the year!  Auditions will be open for students K-12.  ALL Upper School students who audition will participate.  Our room for Lower School students, however, is much more limited.  We will let all students audition, but will probably have to make some cuts.
With all that said, we have a few dates of which to make you aware.
AUDITION WORKSHOP
Thursday, December 13, 2:00 p.m. (for Upper School ONLY)
Lower School Students can pick up an audition packet at the Lower School Office on December 13
PARENT INFORMATIONAL MEETING (For parents of ALL students, UPPER and LOWER School)
Thursday, December 13, 12:30 p.m.
Eastwood Sanctuary
AUDITIONS
Wednesday, January 9, 2-5:00 p.m.

Now last, but not least, this year's musical will be.....................
Rogers and Hammerstein's
CINDERELLA.
Please encourage your students to participate!  This play is large and contains many male and female roles, many of which are comical.  Take a chance to watch the 1957 version of the movie ( with Julie Andrews as Cinderella), available on Youtube.  This version is quite different from the Disney version and is very entertaining.

Any sports teams whose activities coincide with those of the play, will be able to work around participation in both!  We want everyone to take part who is willing.

We are excited to begin a little early this year and we hope you will be as well!  Please email or call us with any questions you may have!

UPDATES

The following is the link to the soundtrack your child will need to practice their songs:
http://www.amazon.com/Fiddler-Roof-2004-Broadway-Revival/dp/B00023GFYK/ref=sr_1_5?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1331661241&sr=1-5
It is also located in the sidebar area.
This should only be $9. I am sorry for adding another cost, but this is the easiest way to get this music in your hands.
Also, please be sure to turn in your covenant and $.
It has come to our attention that some students are playing tennis on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will be able to continue this, but will have to miss the last lesson in April. That day will be our first complete run thru.

NEW SCHEDULE!

Please view the schedule in the sidebar. If you ever are unable to view it or you see that there is an error, please let us know!

Also, please let us know asap if you intend on serving in the area of set construction or painting. We need to assemble that crew as soon as possible. Andrew Leuthold, our set designer, is moving, and we will need to attack this portion of production immediately, so that we can accomplish what he has planned in a timely manner! If you know of someone in our Eastwood family that is not already involved in the play and who would be interested in helping in this area, please tell them to contact us and we will plug them in. Andrew has faithfully designed our sets for the last 5 years (maybe 6?) and has never had a child involved in the play, he just enjoys what he does! We know there are others out there just waiting to jump in and join!

Aditional Cast Members

Even though these characters have now been named, you do not attend Main Roles practices, unless instructed to do so.

You will also be receiving instruction on chorus songs and how to get your recording of the music to practice.

2012 Audition Results

Please take the time to read this BEFORE you read the results!!!!
We had a great day of auditions and LOVED seeing the potential in so many for the coming years! As always, we pray long and hard over the assignments we give the students. Please be positive about these roles and trust our judgement. We are not perfect, but we hope we have chosen the right people for the right roles.
We will be assigning small solos, small speaking roles, etc. as we get into practicing. There are also several dancing roles that will be very involved, which we will assign in the coming days, as well.
We are tentatively planning a practice next week, so please check back on here to see when that will be-it will be our annual read-thru. We are also planning a screening for the upper school of the movie one night next week (probably Friday).

Today's Meetings!

Parent meeting went great! Thank you to all who came and for those unable to make it, everything you need is available in the office.
One clarification, if you are a parent of a Lower School student, you do not need to pay until you know if your child has a part.
Also, if your child is trying out for simply a chorus role (lower school and some upper school), they need only sing a song, no monologue is required. All others need to stick with a monologue and song.

Parent Informational Meeting

This year's parent informational meeting will be Thursday, February 9, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. It is not mandatory, but you will receive all important dates and info regarding this year's play season. You will also receive instructions for auditions. LOWER SCHOOL is not a part of the Audition Workshop, so this is their chance to come and ask questions and get ready for the big day. We will also, likely be scaling down a bit in our Lower School participation, due to the play we are performing, so you will be able to find out more about that as well.

Hope to see you there!
THURSDAY, February 9

Audition Workshop

This year's Audition Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, February 9, from 2-4:00 p.m. in Mr. Givens' Room. This is a time for UPPER SCHOOL students to get acquainted with the play and what we are looking for in each role. This is also a time to loosen up and have fun with some drama exercises that may help in preparation for auditions. Although not mandatory, it is extremely beneficial.
We hope to see you there!
