Eastwood Players Shirt Day #2

You will be allowed to wear your t-shirts and jeans to school on Thursday (unless you have your hair done and need to wear your buttoned shirts!).

VIDEOS!!!!

This year we are producing videos of the play. They will be $15 and we will be circulating order forms tomorrow at practice. The video will be shot and edited by Taylor Road technical crew members. Videos should be of great quality and a treasure to have!

Hair Woes

We understand that a few of you may be concerned about using the wash to color your child's hair for the play. Let me begin by assuring you that we understand your concern. Let me continue by saying that our hair ladies, Mrs. Bethea and Mrs. Cox, have thoroughly researched methods that produce dark hair and the product suggested for use. Mrs. Cox has professional Cosmotology experience. Please know that the product suggested is a non-harsh chemical. It has no harmful side-effects and we have been unable to find any bad reviews of the product. If you have had discussions with cosmotologists who may be concerned about the use of such washes on children, you may need to clarify the product being used.
We understand that some of you may still have serious concerns. We have discussed our solution with Mr. Geiger. The goal is to get everyone to have black hair. If you can achieve this with the use of something other than the wash, please do. We will give three scenarios, hopefully one of which will meet your needs.
1. Use the wash suggested on the Hair Handout.
2. Use the mouse that is tinted.
3. Use the colored hair spray used at Olympic Field Day.

We hope this helps. If you still have questions, please contact Diane Cox at 221-5681. Thank you for your genuine concern for doing things the best way possible. We appreciate your hard work as parents and could not do the show without you!

If you have signed-up to help with the actual production of the play, thank you for volunteering! If you have yet to sign-up, please consider where you might help. We REALLY need volunteers for Child Supervision Backstage Friday night. As of right now, no one has signed-up.

Eastwood Players Shirt Day

Please be sure to wear these every opportunity you have around town. It's a great way to advertise!

Parent Help Needed!

As the practices become more frequent and longer, it would be helpful if at least 2 adults could volunteer to supervise the children during the times they are waiting to practice or transitioning from one practice space to another. For Sat, May 1st we have Nan Vaughn, Cary Allbriton and Amy Buxbaum who will each take 2 hours a piece to supervise the children. We need three more people to commit to helping on Saturday this area. If you are sewing and were planning to be there, perhaps you could help keep an eye out for the children as well. It really will help practice go more smoothly and ensure their safety. If you can help Sat or any other day please email or call, Wendy Hamilton at weh130@msn.com or (662)425-7725.

LAST CHANCE Parent/Student Meeting

Tuesday, February 16th
2:00 p.m.
EPC Sanctuary
This is your last chance to attend one of our parent/student drama informational meetings. Everyone is invited to attend. Come to learn more about the program, ask questions, and learn about some new opportunities this year!
Attendance is not necessary for participation in the play. It would, however, be very helpful.

PARENT MEETINGS

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4th 12:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
EPC Sanctuary
Parents are encouraged to attend and students are welcome.
The two time slots are to insure everyone has a chance to attend. We have not had a formal parent meeting in a couple of years, but feel the need to reinstate the practice, due to some new policies and opportunities. We want to boost elementary involvement, since The King and I has such a large number of small children roles. Please encourage families with younger Eastwood students to see what the play program is all about!

The 2010 Play is ....

THE KING AND I
Yes, that's right. We are "starting over," going back to the first play we attempted as The Eastwood Players. We hope you are as excited as we are about getting to do this play again and "do it up right"! The students did a magnificent job way back in 2004, but David and I have learned ALOT in the past 6 years. Here is a little recap of The Eastwood Players' selections:
2004 The King and I
2005 Fiddler On the Roof
2006 The Music Man
2007 The Sound of Music
2008 Annie
2009 Meet Me In St. Louis

Now don't think that just because we made our selections in a certain order the first time around, that we will again. We have every intention of mixing it up a little over the next 6 years and who's to say that we won't throw in a new play here and there along the way. So for those of you who may be a little down that we are starting over, don't rule out the possibility of a new show in the future!
For those of you who may be wondering why we feel the need to "start over" at all, let me explain. In an effort to have your children performing only the highest quality shows for kids K-12, we have spent countless hours pouring over scripts (praying through each one), picking the very best classics to share with your children. We feel we have come to an end of the more obvious selections and are pleased. We can now focus our efforts on making these the best plays we can. If we happen to come across another play in the future or we see that another "great one" is possible to produce, we will add it to the repertoire.
We hope you can get on board with us and enjoy EVERY second of this year's musical production!
Stay tuned for further details, meeting times, and more!
